Chapter 28: The Master and the Servant

"Bors, what do you think? Would you like a drink of wine?"

When I spoke to the knight guarding the entrance, he looked somewhat surprised.

I had woken up at an odd hour and couldn't get back to sleep. Then I remembered that I had exchanged a map and a bottle of wine with an adventurer earlier. Wine was a rare commodity in this dungeon and difficult to obtain, so I had been careful. The undead don't need food, so Bors hadn't touched our provisions. However, it seemed they couldn’t consume it.

"This is your first drink in decades, isn't it? Well, would you like a glass?"

He always stubbornly refused food, but he accepted the wine gently. Unfortunately, we didn’t have proper glasses, so we drank from a water bottle.

The wine, which I hadn’t tasted in a long while, had a fragrant yet quite bitter flavor.

"I can't taste it myself due to my lack of a tongue, but it should rejuvenate me."

"You used to be quite the heavy drinker, didn’t you?"

"Well, sort of. Even though he looks like this, he was still a top-tier adventurer."

It was amusing to see a small amount of wine being poured into an iron mask.

"I never thought we’d get this close to the dragon so quickly. The effects of Sula and the teleportation crystal are truly incredible."

"Tomorrow will finally be the time to defeat the dragon. This is the first step in our plan."

"Are you sure? If you kill the guardian of the Ibgrand Kingdom, you won’t be able to return to your previous position, right?"

"Being sent to a country betrayed makes sense. Where can I find someone to grant me passage? I also promised my comrades. In the future, I will change this country. Let’s work together to transform this crumbling kingdom."

As he finishes everything, I embrace the prince’s body, trying to catch my breath. His pink hair sprawls across the bed. We exchange body heat as if we were newly born. This is the only moment that makes me forget everything. Like a child, I hold His Highness’s robust body.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah."

We kissed countless times. A long, tense period passes.

"I’m sorry, Sophie."

"Huh!?"

"I’ve brought a lot of trouble upon myself. Glare’s death, my parents’ house... Perhaps it’s best if we end our relationship. I’ll take full responsibility. However, I will provide sufficient assistance to ensure your peace of mind.
